Dr. Saad has helped many United States patients during his forty years in performing complex pediatric surgeries. Medical catheters are tubular apparatus that have a number of functions. They are normally inserted into the body of a patient to either treat some medical problems or to help during surgery. They can also be responsible for providing access to gadgets, fluids and gases and other tasks depending on the catheter type used. Catheters can be placed either permanently or temporally in the body of a patient.

Pediatric surgeons usually have to track the catheter positioning to ensure that it’s at the right location. X-rays were done traditionally to track the positioning of the catheter and this put patients at a risk due to constant exposure to radiations. The alternative to X-ray was the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). These machines were huge and hence not portable which made them an impartial alternative.

Saad Saad came up with a special machine that did not require any scan to locate the position of the catheter. This machine uses electromagnetic energy to identify the catheter’s location since the catheter itself has a permeable material electromagnetically positioned in the coil. The pediatrician therefore, places the device outside the body of the patient which in turn scans and thereafter a signal is sent to the coil which then illuminates some lights externally which then enables the doctor to know that the external identifying machine is directly above the catheter. This device is small and portable making it fit for usage if an emergency occurs. Saad Saad also invented the suction-irrigation device which prevents body liquids from abstracting the doctors view while using an endoscope to view areas in the body containing fluids like the esophagus, lungs and intestines.
